The Scout Movement
14th Brighton Scout Group
The 14th Group (Brighton & Hove District) was founded at Dorset Gardens in 1923 and has been sponsored by Dorset Gardens Methodist continuously for over 85 years, a record of which we are proud. Beavers (aged 6-8) and Cub Scouts (aged 8-10) both meet weekly on Thursday evenings at 6 pm. The Scout Troop meets on Mondays at 7 pm. All sections are open to both boys and girls, (total strength almost 50 - March 2011). The Church finds ways to support all youngsters who wish to "join". The Troops attendance at the occasional Church Parade is welcomed.
Brighton Scouts have their own campsite near Poynings and all sections follow a lively balanced programme of indoor and outdoor activities. All the leaders are volunteers and have been fully CRB checked. New leaders are always welcome, as are parent representatives on the Group Executive Committee.
