Fund Raising

Most of our fund raising is for projects we support.

Our main project is supporting the Methodist Churches in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, South Africa.  Their aim is to alleviate the severe poverty in that vast township and to help and encourage the neediest in the community.  This includes:  Feeding programmes for 500 people, mainly children, for three days a week; a creche, mainly for orphans, many of whose parents have died of HIV/AIDS or TB; supporting a hospital for patients with HIV/AIDS and TB; an HIV/AIDS primary care network; and building a new church for 1,200 people.  None of these projects receive any state funding.  In June 2007 we brought the church's award-winning choir to the UK to sing in various venues.  It was the first time that most of them had left Port Elizabeth.  It was a resounding success!

Other projects we support include:-

The Brighton & Hove Methodist Circuit Project in Ghana

Action for Children (The Methodist children's charity)   [Further information]

Local City projects as needed.

Fund raising activities include:-

The very popular coach outings, which are open to all who wish to join us.

Coffee Mornings are held throughout the year at the church and at members' homes to raise money for various causes.
